The Chesapeake Public Safety Memorial Fund has been established to raise money to build a new memorial for all Chesapeake Public Safety personnel.
Two memorials currently sit at the entrance to the Chesapeake Public Safety building. They were placed there to honor our heroes who died during their service to others. These two memorials, unfortunately, no longer meet the needs of our growing city. The law enforcement memorial was erected in 1991 and the firefighter’s in 1995. It was a sad day for our Police Department when the last space on our current memorial was filled with the name of Officer Shivers who was killed on
January 17, 2008.
